Farmhouse/Harvest Dining Table
These made-to-order Farmhouse/Harvest Dining Tables are hand crafted with classic and contemporary design elements. Solidly built for every day use in a kitchen or a dining room or even on a patio. Made of select kiln-dried Douglas Fir timber.
Finished with environmentally friendly yet durable milk paint on the base and a non-VOC hard wax oil on the top. A ceramic coating over the hard wax oil makes the finish resistant to heat, alcohol, and hard wear and tear.

Outdoor/Indoor Bench
The ideal bench for indoor or outdoor use! Available in two sizes and commonly used in kids rooms, mud rooms, entryways, patios and gardens.
Because these benches may be exposed to the outdoor elements, we use either redwood or western red cedar lumber. It is finished with a clear, matte hard wax oil with UV blockers. The finish is also child-safe and pet-safe.
Made in both the San Francisco Workshop and NJ Workshop.

Potting Bench
Garden potting bench with upper shelves with dimensions of 5 ft tall, 4 ft wide, and a bit more than 2 ft deep. All heart wood and no sap wood for visual beauty and better longevity of the piece. It has a combination of joinery including mortise and tenon, pocket holes, and face screwing with weather coated screws.
Edging features of round overs and chamfers make for eye catching flows and shadow lines where individual pieces meet up. The finish is a hard wax oil with UV protection and mold and mildew inhibitors to keep the look rich and clean.

Blanket Chest
A project from the San Francisco Workshop. This blanket chest is based on a 1912 Stickley design for a men’s shirtwaist box. The legs and rails are made from old growth rift sawn and quarter sawn white oak timbers recovered from an 1824 farmhouse restoration in upstate NY.
The panels are shop-made quarter sawn white oak plywood. The top is made of rift sawn ash with quarter sawn white oak veneer applied. The bottom of the chest is lined with aromatic cedar and the torsion hinges provide for controlled positioning of the top at any angle. The chest is finished with a hard wax oil with the top getting a micro thin ceramic coating.
“The quality of Joe’s craftsmanship is superb. He built a magnificent mission style blanket chest for me, with incredible attention to detail. He was easy to work with and asked for my input on decisions along the way. Couldn’t be more pleased with the final result, a true heirloom piece for my family to enjoy for years to come.”

Cedar Pergola Restoration
The latest project on the table in the New Jersey Workshop. A 20 year old large pergola that was covered in mold and mildew with a bit of rot here and there and turn it into trimmed stock ready for milling in order to build a slightly smaller pergola. Milling still needs to be done and construction won’t happen till spring. Not too much heading to landfill.

Mergatroid, Green Apple Books
Back from his makeover and rehabilitation, Mergatroid was a project from Green Apple Books on Clement St, San Francisco.
“Haha! HeeHee! It is I, Mergatroid the wooden elf. Let’s just say a few decades in the elements hasn’t been the greatest for my complexion and I was sure th kid at I could kiss my youthful glow goodbye forever… That was, until I checked in for an extended spa stay with the folks over at Moonframe Woodworks. Wouldn’t you know it, I feel like a whole new elf. While my paint dried and wood filler cured, I passed my time with some reading (even though I just work the door, I do enjoy a good book, you know).”

Cherry Blanket Chest
This Cherry Blanket Chest was made for a customer who had his own stash of Cherry lumber bought long ago and stored for twenty years. They asked for a sturdy blanket chest slash bench for use in the dining area of an open kitchen. There was quite a bit of sap wood as part of the stash of lumber so I decided to make use of the sap wood for what some mid-nineteenth century styles used as a reminder of a mountain or a peak. You can see it on the front and side panels as I matched up individual six inch cuts from planks to create the mountain-on-the-horizon effect.
At seventy-seven inches long, this blanket chest was built to support some sturdy football players, therefore the top and frames on the side are an inch and a half thick. The panels are three quarters of an inch thick. A hefty solution for the customer’s requirements.
This bench is finished with four coats of polyurethane for it’s expected heavy use in a high traffic area.
